Femme Fatale

She was dangerous,
like that third rail.
Every so often
there were sparks
that shot out from her eyes,
reminding him
the danger was live
and fatal.

I saw a movie many years ago titled “Femme Fatale” (I think that was its English title) and I haven’t thought about it in years until I read this poem. I taught poetry for a New York minute when I was working on my MFA in fiction writing between 2003-2006 at the University of Pittsburgh to undergrads. Have you had formal instruction in writing poetry? I think this poem is tight and it scans well and the photo puts it over the top.

Thank you, Guy. I am an English major who has had poetry as a madness since I could write.
I am working on a book of my poetry, slowly.
I am glad you enjoy what I write. I can’t not write. The words come into my brain as whole sentences, sometimes, and I have to put them down on paper.
I am glad you like the photograph. I was thinking wicked thoughts when I took it. 😉
